The 25th Virginia State meet was held in memory of Will Morris on September 11 at the Best Western in Zion Crossroads. The contest had 50 of so lifters lifting on two platforms and the meet went great. We were done with lifting in under five hours with a great effort from the meet staff from all over Virginia. THANK YOU to ALL who helped and made the contest a great success. Results are posted on http://www.powerliftingwatch.com/ . There were many new records set.
The meet ended my eight years (four terms) as Virginia State Chairman. I have enjoyed working with the lifters and officals of USA Powerlifting. During my time in office we added a dozen or more State Referees. Four are set to take the National Referee test at the American Open in December. We held three National meets in Virginia (2002 Masters, 2009 Raw and the 2010 Bench Press Nationals) during that time and all drew 150 or more lifters. We have one more National event set for September 10, 2011 the Deadlift and Push/Pull Nationals.
I will still be directing contest's and have two planned for 2011. Feb 26th will be the 10th annual USAPL Virginia Open and September 10th the Deadlift and Push/Pull Nationals both will be held in Zion Crossroads at the Best Western.
Tricia Emrich is the new Virginia State Chair. She will do a great job and is already hard at work. Her and husband Gary are the Meet Directors for the Richmond Open and Brute Strength Stars and Strips Championships. They help out at all events as officals and have brought equipment to many contest to help out Meet Directors myself included.
She is working on a new Virginia Website http://www.usaplvirginia.com/ and her email address is vastatechair@usaplvirginia.com . Write and welcome her to the State Chair position.
