VIRGINIA STATE CHAIR NEWS

The August 11th deadline to run for Virginia State Chair has come and gone. One person Tricia Emrich has applied to fill the position.

Tricia has been involved in USAPL lifting since 2003. She has set state records in two weight classes. She is a state referee and worked many contests in Virginia for years. She is a meet director along with her husband, Gary.

They have promoted some of the East Coast best meet over the years. The Richmond Open is a great event and is held each April. Tricia has a wonderful family and lives in the Richmond, Virginia area.

The 25th Virginia State Championships will be held Saturday, September 11th at Zion Crossroads. This will be my last meet as Virginia State Chair. I have filled the position for the past eight years. I have really enjoyed working with the lifters of Virginia. We have a GREAT group of lifters and officials. I have enjoyed my time as State Chair. A lot has happened the past eight years. Raw lifting is really doing well in Virginia and we were one of the first states to hold state records in raw lifting. We have held the Raw Nationals in 2009 and are holding the Bench Press Nationals this year and the Deadlift & Push/Pull Nationals in 2011.

Tricia will assume the State Chair position on September 12th the day after the Virginia State Championships. She

has big plans to move Drug Free Powerlifting forward in Virginia. I feel she will be a excellent State Chair and will be able to move Virginia USA Powerlifting on to bigger and better things.
