The Virginia Powerlifting Report 6/8/08

"Bigger, Stronger, Faster"; Fair, Balanced, Provoking?

At GoHeavy, Steve Denison announces the release of the movie Bigger, Stronger, Faster. In the movie, Mark Bell describes the exploration of steroid use by his brothers and raises a number of points and counter points in the use of the performance enhancers. Read review here, here and here.

From Steve Denison;

I think its a very good movie that tries to dispel the many myths about steroids with the pros and cons. The director goes back and forth and interviews various medical experts on negative and postive sides of steroid use. It also focuses on the Bell family and the 3 brothers with 2 of them using. One is a highly competitive powerlifter, Mark Bell, and the other brother is a WWE has been. The 3rd brother, Chris Bell is the director. He also interviews Carl Lewis, Ben Johnson, Floyd Landis along with that Congressman you see in the preview clip. The movie was well put together and it will make you thnk critically about steroids and their impact on society and sports in general. It received a 4 1/2 star rating from the NY Times. I think you will find the movie worth watching whether you're for or against steroid use.
